Aikido

Karate

Karate flyer 1We teach Shotokan Karate Jitsu. The Karate style emphasizes the practical application of techniques in self-defense scenarios. The term "Jitsu" (also spelled "Jutsu") refers to "art" or "technique" in Japanese, and in the context of Karate Jitsu, it focuses on the combat-oriented aspects of karate rather than the sport or purely fitness aspects. KJitsu often includes a broader range of techniques than what might be found in sport, incorporating joint locks, throws, grappling, and pressure point strikes. It aims to provide a more comprehensive self-defense system. The practice of KJitsu often involves a deep understanding of kata (forms), bunkai (application of kata), and real-world self-defense scenarios. It is typically seen as a more traditional and holistic approach to martial arts, focusing on effectiveness in real-life situations rather than competition.

Women's Self-Defense Workshop

Learn to defend yourself! The Women's Self-Defense Seminars are designed to teach physical and psychological self-defense skills to women and transgender folks of all skill levels and backgrounds.

The Women Self-Defense Seminar is perfect for mothers and daughters, teenagers, young ladies heading off to college soon, and any female (for ages 12 & up) who would like to feel more confident in recognizing, avoiding, and defending against violent attacks.

You'll Learn:

  1. How to escape from grabs and chokes
  2. How to block and strike powerfully
  3. How to set—and keep—boundaries
  4. How to stand your ground
  5. How to use pressure points to safely dissuade or disable an attacker
  6. How to execute basic takedowns and fight while on the ground

 FAQ's about The Women Self-Defense Seminars

  • What should I wear? Just wear comfortable clothes and if you can remember please bring a heavier-weight sweatshirt.
  • Am I too old to learn self-defense? No. Anyone at any age can learn self-defense. Our students in the seminars range in age from 12 up into their 60s.
  • Will I get hurt? Although we will be training for real-life scenarios and learning fundamental protection techniques - the curriculum structure, practice procedures, and instruction manner all ensure safety first.
  • How long is the Seminar & what is the cost? It is two hours long and it costs $40. Discounts for additional persons or group participation: 
    • Two People: $35 each (12.5% discount)
    • Three to Four People: $30 each (25% discount)
    • Five or More People: $25 each (37.5% discount)
  • When are the Seminars taught? The seminars are held on Wednesday and Friday Mornings from 10am to noon. Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm and Sunday evenings from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. 
  • Do you offer any other self-protection training for women? We teach individual self-defense lessons, do special classes for businesses & groups, and have ongoing weekly self-defense programs for those looking for even more in-depth training. Judo

judo jmaaOur Judo program is suitable for participants of all ages and skill levels, from beginners with no prior experience to seasoned practitioners looking to refine their techniques. Our knowledgeable and experienced instructors will guide you through the intricacies of Judo, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

In our classes, you will be exposed to a wide range of techniques, including throws, ground fighting, and submissions. You'll have the opportunity to train with partners and engage in controlled, realistic sparring sessions, fostering both physical and mental growth. Our training days are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 PM to 7:30 PM

Our Jiu-Jitsu program for Kids & Adults aims to provide participants with a well-rounded martial arts experience, combining the throws and groundwork of Judo with the submissions and positional control of Jiu-Jitsu. The program focuses on developing physical fitness, technical proficiency, and a strong understanding of self-defense principles.

Kudo MMA

kudo cirKūdō (空道Kūdō) is a Japanese hybrid martial art. It is a full-contact combat sport that aims to achieve both safety and practicality, a style of mixed martial arts practiced with headgear and gloves. It features stand-up striking, with throwing and grappling techniques being also allowed in the competition, including restraint, locks, and chokeholds.

Kūdō is a budo martial art that originated in the Daido Juku school. Daido Juku is an organization founded by Azuma Takashi in 1981.
